Why I became a Reflexologist
The National Institute of Health recognizes
Reflexology as an Integrative Therapy
A holistic therapy, reflexology’s aims are to relieve stress, pain and muscle tension, increase circulation and restore the body’s natural balance and harmony. Reflexology is a holistic healing technique, which treats the whole person - body, mind and spirit. Reflexology is a method of stimulating the body's healing mechanisms through manual stimulation of the reflex maps located on the feet, hands and outer ears.
Although not generally considered a first line of defense by Western physicians, reflexology has become one of the more popular alternative medicine preferred by patients, and clinical trials continue to test its effectiveness.
The therapy is based on the idea that the organs of the body are represented on the feet, hands and ears, making them a vital map of the body. The right foot corresponds to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left side of the body.
Reflexology is a complement to standard medical care and should not be taken as a replacement. After a reflexology session, you may respond in various ways. Most people are relaxed; others become nauseous (from the release of toxins) or slightly faint. After all, during a session of therapy, more than 7,200 nerves are stimulated!
Reflexology aims to reduce stress, increases deep relaxation, improves circulation, cleanses the body of toxins, helps to restore balance to the whole body system and increases energy.
